Energy Aggregation

In November 2009, Glendale voters originally approved energy aggregation programs for natural gas and electricity services.

These aggregation programs allow residents and small businesses to select alternative suppliers to Duke Energy. The rates secured through these programs are often more competitive than Duke Energy’s “Price to Compare”, which is the default supply rate for natural gas and electricity services.

These programs are ‘opt-out’, meaning that customers have the ability to leave the program and pursue different suppliers for each utility. There are no fees associated with joining or leaving the Village’s aggregation program.

Electric Supply renewal - summer 2021
If you are currently enrolled in the Village’s aggregation program, you will soon receive a letter in the mail informing you of the new supplier and rate for the Village’s electricity aggregation program. The Village has signed a two year agreement with the new supplier, Dynegy. Duke Energy is responsible for the delivery of your energy, so you will still receive bills from Duke Energy, but they will list Dynegy as the supplier. Outages and emergency situations should still be reported to Duke Energy.

The new rate is $0.04930 per kilowatt hour (kWh). This rate is fixed for 24 months, beginning with the August 2021 meter reading date.

New with this renewal is a 100% renewable energy program option. The energy provided at this rate is produced from 100% renewable resources. The rate for this 100% renewable option is $0.05345/kWh. This is an ‘opt-in’ program and you should refer to the letter you received for more information on how to enroll.

With this upcoming renewal, it is common for other energy suppliers to attempt to get customers to enroll in their services. These suppliers may contact you by phone or door-to-door promising lower rates. Be very careful when considering these services – often the lower rates are a promotional price that expires after only a few months and the supplier may require a contract with high cancellation fees.

If you have any questions about the Village’s aggregation program, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Village Office at (513) 771-7200, or visit Dynegy's webpage for the Village of Glendale.

NAtural Gas AggregationThe Village’s natural gas aggregation program with IGS Energy offers a variable rate designed to best compete with Duke’s natural gas price for a two-year term running from October 2020 through October 2022.

If you are with another supplier and would like to switch to the Village’s natural gas aggregation program you should check with your existing supplier for related cancellation fees. After you cancel your existing contract, contact AGE, the Village’s Aggregation Consultant (see below), and tell them you want to join the Village of Glendale natural gas aggregation program. There are no additional fees associated with the Village’s aggregation programs and you may join or cancel at any time.
