Swamp White Oak

Quercus bicolor
This native oak grows rapidly and is more common in northern Ohio. As the name implies, it can grow in swamps or wetlands, but is also drought resistant and tolerates extremes in temperature. It can reach heights of 60-80 ft. and can live up to 300 years. The leaves have a characteristic white appearance on the underside. The wood is similar but somewhat inferior to the White Oak and can be used for flooring and furniture.
