Littleleaf Linden

Tilia cordata

This tree is a native of Europe and is the national tree of the Slovak and Czech Republics. In the United States it has often been used as a street tree since it tolerates urban conditions, is drought resistant and is fairly disease resistant. It can be heavily pruned without significantly damaging the tree. This feature makes it good for Bonsai and as an attractive ornamental tree.  They can grow up to 70 ft. tall and 50 ft. wide. The small, pale, yellow flowers are fragrant, bloom in late spring and are attractive to bees.
