Lake Hannigan "Returned" in 1999
In April of 1999 Lake Hannigan returned for a brief visit, as Lake Park flooded. In the first photo below we see Lake Park under water, as we look NE from the corner of Congress Avenue and South Lake. In the second photo we see water pouring into the old lakebed from off of Congress Avenue at South Lake.
Heavy rains in the Spring of 1999 overwhelmed all storm drains, flooded basements,
and cascaded water over yards, as seen in the second photo below.
The "original" Lake Hannigan was drained in 1928-1929.
