Welcome and thank you for visiting Glendale's website.
I am Jenny Kilgore, elected to council to serve the residents of the Village of Glendale since 2004. I currently serve on the Finance, Police, and Utilities Committee, and am Chair of the Streets and Public Improvements Committee.
I live on Chester Road with my husband of 33 years – Architect Tim Kilgore. We moved to Glendale in 1984, choosing this village as the family friendly community where we wanted to raise our daughter, Erin, and son, Brian.
I have taught at Landmark Christian School, Southern Ohio College, and currently at Miami University, Indiana Wesleyan University and the College of Mount St Joseph . I volunteer at church teaching Junior High Sunday School and locally as an admissions representation for the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Council, as the legislative branch of our local government, supports the village and its mayor by exploring village needs and developing ordinances, which through enforcement ensure safety, comfort, convenience, and peace of mind for Glendale residents.
In 2004 the village tirelessly campaigned to keep our community elementary school and in 2005 we continued to monitor and hold the district accountable for the just allocation of funds to renovate our historic school building. In 2006 we saw an increase in water costs associated with EPA mandated improvements to our water treatment facilities. We are currently examining the cost effectiveness and sustainability of a village volunteer fire department. This spring the remaining streets slated to be resurfaced will be done; and noise abatement measures regarding the trains that pass through the three intersections in the center of our village are being explored.
In 2007 council's emphasis continues to be on the smooth and sound running of the village of which there are two parts: providing residents with the quality of service at the level they expect at reasonable cost and monitoring the development of our neighboring communities and how that growth affects Glendale. Of significant influence on the quality of life in our village is the commercial development in neighboring communities. To our north Springdale is developing a Main Street District along Route 4 and Sharonville is developing The Northern Lights Project, exclusive shopping and restaurants, on Chester Road north of Sharon Road. To our south Evendale is developing Evendale Commons, a retail and office complex, and Woodlawn is developing the south side of the Glendale-Milford Road corridor that includes light industry and a senior living facility. At our east border along I-75 the Landmark property is being considered for development, with specifics yet to be determined. Our goal is to limit any adverse effects these projects may have on our village, including visual impact, increase in traffic and non-resident activity.
I represent the village's interests by attending and participating in:
