Captain Tucker Palmatier works full time for Convergys in Downtown Cincinnati. He and his wife Rebecca live in Colerain Twp. with their dog Pumpkin. Before moving to Cincinnati, Tucker lived in Virginia and was a long time firefighter/EMT in the Washington D.C. metro area. Tucker coordinates our EMS program in Glendale and recently became a certified fire instructor. Tucker can often be found leading a fire company on Tuesday and Thursday nights.


Connie Reed serves the department as both a firefighter and our departmental chaplain. Connie is a village resident and due to her work and coaching schedule she is around the village during the daytime hours helping us respond during the times when volunteers are often scarce due to work commitments. Connie is involved with our pre-planning program as well as public education and event planning.


Firefighter/EMT Eric Johansing is attending Cincinnati State completing his degree is fire science. Eric, aka Ginger, has been an explorer with the Cheviot Fire Department and hopes to obtain his paramedic license in the very near future. You can often find Eric at the Glendale Fire Station on Monday nights.


Firefighter Steve Schmidt has been a member of the Glendale Fire Department for over 2 years. During his time on the department he has become a fire apparatus operator and obtained his Firefighter 1B state certification. Steve earned a Bachelor’s of Fire Arts Degree from Northern Kentucky University and works for various theatrical troops designing stages and props throughout the area as well as working as a mechanic for Bud Herbert Motors.


FF Tim Falvey is a graduate of Notre Dame University. Tim moved to Glendale after graduation and joined the fire department shortly thereafter. Tim has previous fire service experience with Clay Fire Territory in South Bend, Indiana.


Firefighter Jess Heather also joined the fire department in 2008. She works as a respiratory therapist and lives in Harrison with her husband and fellow Glendale firefighter Phil Heather.

John Hauck


Firefighter Karen Tungate has been a member of the department for over 3 years. Karen is one of our fire apparatus operators and can often be found at the station on weekends working with Phil Heather. Karen lives in Colerain Township and work for the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport.


Firefighter/EMT Kerrie Merritt is a mother of 3 children who recently decided to enter the fire service. In her time with us, she has quickly advanced through her certification levels and is active in event planning and public education. In addition to raising her 3 children, Kerrie also fosters dogs for adoption at her home in Eastgate. Kerrie can often be found at the fire station on Wednesdays and Friday nights.


Firefighter/Paramedic Laura Courts joined the Glendale Fire Department in 2009. Laura came to our department as a certified firefighter and paramedic. Since joining the Glendale Fire Department she has also become a Certified Fire Safety Inspector and now coordinates the pre-planning of buildings in Glendale. In addition to being a volunteer at Glendale, Laura also works for both Woodlawn and West Chester Fire Departments.

Mike Burroughs


Firefighter Phil Heather joined the Glendale Fire Department in 2008. Phil recently became certified as a fire apparatus operator. Phil is an IT professional in Blue Ash and lives with his wife Jess in Harrison. Phil enjoys spending as much time as his wife will let him at the fire station and has organized a group of our firefighters to staff the station during weekends.

Rob Visscher


Firefighter/EMT Adam Rohlfer lives on the west side of Cincinnati and will be marrying his fiancée Cassondra this September. Adam is a carpenter for CRR and is also a member of Tri-State Search and Rescue. Adam works many special events and is often on station during the weekends.


Firefighter Don Schuckman joined the department in 2008. Don is a sergeant in the Marine Corps and recently returned from a deployment in Iraq. Don lives in western Hamilton County and works in construction when not on active duty with the Marines. Don recently became a fire apparatus operator and a hazardous materials technician.


Tom Thacker is a long time Glendale resident and firefighter. Tom formerly served as chief of our department and continues to serve as a fire apparatus operator, instructor and handyman extraordinaire. Tom is retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He and his wife Francis live on Washington Ave. in Glendale.
