Glendale Hires David Moore Jr. As Fire Chief

Chief David Moore Jr., Glendale Fire Department

The Village of Glendale has a new Fire Chief. In a special Council meeting Wednesday, Sept. 24th, Mayor Joseph Hubbard appointed North College Hill resident David Moore Jr. as Glendale’s Fire Chief. David, accompanied by his wife Nancy, received applause from the audience that was teaming with both Wyoming and Glendale firefighters. Chief Moore brings to Glendale’s all volunteer fire department 15 years of firefighting, management and command experience skills, coupled with his broad education base; he has an Associates in Fire Science Technology, a BS in Fire & Safety Engineering, a Masters in Public Administration, and a Masters in Non-Profit Management. David is also a Lieutenant (Director of Personnel) with the Wyoming Volunteer Fire Department and has been responsible in writing operating procedures, recruiting and successfully writing grants for more than $600,000.

David competed with 9 other applicants over a 3 month period in which many interviews, background and reference checks took place. The Glendale Fire Department has a compliment of 21 personnel; 1 Chief, 2 Assistant Chiefs, 3 Captains and the balance as firefighters. Chief Moore will receive a stipend of $16,000 per year with no run pay and the remaining staff and firefighters will receive $20 per run pay.

Mayor Joseph Hubbard said “Chief Moore brings yet another professional aspect to our growing volunteer fire department. We welcome David to our team and look forward to the residents meeting him and benefitting from his many skills”. Over the next few months Chief Moore will concentrate on becoming acclimated with Glendale, the residents and his fire department. Residents of Glendale, as well as those living close to Glendale, are encouraged to contact him if interested in becoming a volunteer with the Glendale Fire Department (771-7864).
